July has arrived and you can bet we’ll be celebrating our Independence Day. That is, if DESTRO doesn’t stop us! So, gather around the warm glow of your digital devices to read the newest issue of Transformers: REANIMATED: titled Generation Next: Featuring G.I. Joe!
This month’s cover comes to you via newcomer RD Blade and returning fan favorite colorist Josh Burcham! These two artists have made an amazing cover. It features Cobra’s Destro and Serpentor along with the iconic Decepticon, Overlord! With so much evil on one cover, how on earth will the Autobots be able to stop them?
Deep within the Cobra Terror Drome, the maniacal mind of Destro has been hard at work, utilizing captured Cybertonian technology to engineer a trio of self-converting robotic warriors, led by the almighty Overlord! Armed with their new weapons, and having usurped Cobra Commander, Serpentor heads to the United Nations Headquarters seeking Sovereign nation status through any means necessary. Will Cobra be able to bully their way into the United Nations? Or will Earth’s skeleton Autobot crew, aided by the ever-heroic G.I. Joe, be able to shed Cobra of their new converting arsenal?
Though this is RD Blade’s first cover for us, Josh Burcham has already helped produce several covers for Transformers: REANIMATED. But today, this new artistic team has come together on our latest cover that was inspired by Nigel Raynor’s Dynamite Comics Terminator 2: Infinity, issue 5.
Written by Greig Tansley from the Unfunny Nerd Tangent podcast and Youseph (Yoshi) Tanha from the YoshiCast, this G1 adventure follows in the Transformers: ReAnimated tradition of bridging the gap between the cartoon’s second season and the 1986 Movie that defined the childhood of millions.
